How does our typical day look like at Lerni Kindergarten?
We educate children mostly in an experiential format. Through experience, a child in preschool learns new information the best, especially when the child experiences the joy of discovery. What experiences are essential for a child? All experiences and situations lead the child to understand himself and the world surrounding him.
We support children in their relationship with animate and inanimate nature and responsibility for it - we learn to separate the waste and get to know animals, insects, bugs, and birds. Soon, you can see a birdhouse and feeder behind our windows. Can a pet be in the kindergarten? Maybe. You would be surprised how children can grow likeness to little spiders, bugs or snails. 🙂
We encourage children to be independent, care for themselves, and engage in practical life activities. We teach them to pour water into a glass, serve themselves when thirsty, or prepare a tasty snack with some assistance. We deliberately let them handle some activities independently, boosting their self-confidence. Children enjoy helping with cleaning - washing, sweeping - and, in the process, naturally develop motor coordination, a sense of competence, and a connection to the shared space.
Children need to be able to transfer the skills they learn to environments outside the kindergarten. We purposefully provide children access to the world beyond our doors through daily activities in our lovely courtyard and beyond. We organise short and longer morning excursions - for example, we have a beautiful sizeable inner-block playground nearby, and the journey to and from it is our shared adventure, providing us with opportunities to learn something new together and see how well we function in a different environment.
We guide children towards politeness, teach them about love, and encourage them to express themselves kindly. We aim to teach children to help one another, communicate, share, ask, and express gratitude. Each child is unique, enriching the entire group while being part of the class community, where the ability to communicate and collaborate is essential.
We create a space for self-realisation and support children's curiosity and creativity. Toys, books, and other educational materials are changed according to what children want at a given moment.
Essential activities are activities developing sensory perception. We often and happily engage in activities such as pouring water or sand from one cup to another and sorting games. We grate solid soap, train grasp, swing daily, climb, crawl, dance, and exercise.
We support the creation of friendships and actively develop children's ability to function well in interpersonal relations. In our kindergarten, we teach children to observe the needs of others and build empathy and tolerance towards diversity. Social responsibility develops at an early age.
Join us, and your child will be welcome here at Lerni Kindergarten.
